Arethea is Marc Aguiló's project, a small and recently established project that denotes enthusiasm and commitment. Arethea produces a small range with limited productions from singular vineyards within the DOQ Priorat. Wines that transmit the essence of the terroir where they come from.
The project's three wines, one white and two red, come from three plots that are situated in an exceptional location: "Coll de Porrera", between the villages of Falset and Porrera. Old vines growing in vineyards in Costers (natural steep slopes), made up of slate soils (Llicorella) at an altitude of 580 meters above sea level and different orientations.
The vines are cultivated in a traditional manner, following the guidelines of organic farming with the utmost respect for the environment and observing the lunar cycle.
Vinification:
Aretheal Negre (blue label) is a cuvée of mainly red Grenache and, in a smaller proportion, Carignan. The grapes come from terraced vineyards (locally known as Bancales) in Porrera: "La Mina" and "La Roca", situated at an altitude of 500 meters. Grown organically (pending certification).
Grapes harvested by hand. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 8 months in 500-litre oak barrels and stainless steel.
Production of 1900 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
A Priorat wine with the typicity of a classical Priorat. Good intensity, varietal aromas. Well-defined notes of red and black fruits with a hint of sweetness. Honest and forward on the palate, silky texture, spice, and mineral, with balsamic and liqueur notes.
