The Gómez Cruzado Blanco 2º Año is a blend of Viura mainly with a small proportion of Tempranillo, grapes sourced from high altitude vines, from the same plot on a slight slope in the Haro area, where the soil is alluvial with pebbles and deep limestone layers.

Production:

Handpicked and handsorted at the winery. Light pressing using 50% whole clusters. Minimum SO2 and spontaneous fermentation. Fermentation in stainless-steel with indigenous yeasts at a constant temperature. Half of the wine spends 5 months in untoasted French oak with its fine lees and the other half in a concrete tank with its fine lees as well.

Tasting Notes:

Clean and fresh, well-balanced white fruit, apple, and pear fruits with revealing white floral notes. Right level of acidity to give it freshness and pleasant bitterness towards the end. Very enjoyable dry wine.

Notes: Enjoy now or during the next 3-4 years

THE WINERY

Gómez Cruzado is a boutique winery located in the well-known Barrio de la Estación, the railway station district in Haro (La Rioja), a unique place with a long history and a long tradition in wine making, considered as the birthplace of Rioja wine. A bodega with origins dating back to 1886, that still maintains its family-business style while staying faithful to its heritage of the fine wine style of Haro’s Barrio de la Estación.

Although the annual production is small, the winery has already established a reputation for the quality of its wines, good credits going to the two winemakers and viticulturist in charge of the project, Juan Antonio Leza and David González, for all their input in running the winery and their vision in creating wines with their own personalities and characters that reflect the terroir where they come from. wines that reflect the terroir where they come from.

Wines born from privileged terroirs, the grapes come from vineyards in the highest areas of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, from a mix of nearly a hundred different plots in three very different terroirs and three microclimates: Sierra Cantabria, Bajo Najerilla and Alto Najerilla.
