Lagavulin is produced by White Horse Distillers which is owned by United Distillers & Vintners which in turn is owned by Diageo Plc. The Distillery of Lagavulin dates from 1816 and is located on Lagavulin Bay in the town of  Port Ellen in the Isle of Islay.

Lagavulin is a full-bodied, intense, smoky-sweet single malt with seaweed flavours and huge finish, aged in oak casks for at least 16 years. It is recognised by its strong peat flavour and iodine flavours. Its long fermentation, long distillation and long maturation gives it this unique character.

Lagavulin  is the Islay malt in the group of the  “six Classic Malts”.
