Palmeri Navalta is the most emblematic wine of the Palmeri Sicilia winery. A mountain wine born in the small village of Tabuenca, within the well-known wine region of Campo de Borja.
It is made from 100% Garnacha, the region's star varietal and the absolute protagonist of the winery's wines. Palmeri Navalta is a tribute to the Tabuenca mountain range, Nava Alta, from which it takes its name. It is a limited production, handcrafted and organically certified.
Vinification:
Hand-harvesting. Grape selection at the vineyard and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
Tasting notes:
Bright cherry red colour. Pure, unmasked Garnacha, with excellent intensity and complexity on the nose. It displays a concentration of very ripe fruit, red cherries and strawberries, together with spicy and mineral notes. Full-bodied, dense, and fleshy with good fruit presence, ripe tannins, and fresh acidity. Finishing long with good persistence.
PALMERI SICILIA
The Palmeri Sicilia winery was born through the association between two families, Spanish-Swiss, the Cuartero-Cuartero brothers and the Breitschmid Heiniger family, producers of organic wines. The project started in 2012 with the acquisition of the three brothers' vineyards in their hometown of Tabuenca in the renowned wine region of Campo de Borja. The result is a small boutique winery that has become known for producing high-quality wines where the Grenache grape is the absolute protagonist.
The grapes come from the 13 hectares of their own organically farmed vineyards, some of which have vines over 50 years old. Their yields are very low and produce grapes of great concentration. The vines grow at an altitude of over 700 meters, where they enjoy favourable exposure that benefits the grape's ripeness and gives them their distinct personality.
