Racorell belongs to the range of wines under Alfredo Arribas’ latest project "El Mas de l'A". A red wine that explores the refining capacity of a blend of co-planted Grenaches grapes: Negra, Peluda, and Gris. Grapes sourced from soils composed of a mixture of red clay and slate (a type of Llicorella characteristic of the north side of the region).
Production:
The key here is to find the precise time for harvesting, as this will mark the character of the wine. Long maceration, maintaining part of the stems (50%), naturally fermented with its own yeasts in cement vats. Aged for 12 months in Fudres and used large French oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Notes:
A wine displaying all the purity of the fruit, subtle, fine, harmonised, balsamic and mineral, smooth tannins, and acidity. Long aftertaste.
"El Mas de l’A" is undoubtedly clearly focused on the search for a different Priorat. A project based on the different red and white Grenache grapes growing in the enclave of La Morera de Montsant, a valley located between the small towns of Cornudella and Poboleda, this region stands out for its ideal climatic conditions, a perfect balance between north and south, an altitude of 500 metres above sea level, and a rich range of soils.
Opting for sustainable agriculture and viticulture, co-planting as a rule, and stimulating the virtues of the youngest vines. The result is a range of very fine wines with a lower alcohol content and silky tannins. Wines with great potential and small productions.
Mas de L’A is Alfredo Arribas’ latest project within the DOQ Priorat. Since the early starts of this wine-making adventure in 2001 with his initial project of Clos del Portal in Priorat, Alfredo has moved on focused by his passion and concern in the search for new initiatives.
In the neighbouring DO Montsant "Trossos", Alfredo developed a recovery task for old vines. This was followed by the incorporation of a project based on a range of natural wines under the name of "Vins Nus".
