Lousas Rosende is a red village wine of very limited production from the Ribeira Sacra area in the Rosende Valley, in the traditional Sil area, from the Atlantic wines of the Envinate project. The wine is marketed without geographical indication.

Lousas, the name in Galician to designate the type of "slate" soil that predominates in the Armandi sub-zone of the Ribeira Sacra, gives its name to the range of wines produced by Envinate in the Ribeira Sacra in collaboration with Galician viticultors. These wines are marked by the influence of the Atlantic and the slate soils in the singular vineyards where they come from.

Rosende is a blend of mainly Mencía and a small percentage of other native grape varieties, Merenzao, Brancellao, Grao Negro. It comes from a single slope of decomposed sandy granite with vines between 28 and 60 years old.

Production:

Manual harvest with grape selection in the vineyard. Fermentation of whole bunches in open vats with indigenous yeasts. Spontaneous fermentation in neutral French oak barrels.

Aged for 11 months on its own lees in neutral oak barrels of different sizes. No racking or addition of sulphites.

Tasting Notes:

A blend that stands out for its freshness and minerality. Floral with spicy and herbaceous notes. On the palate, the flavours of red fruit and violets stand out. Tasty and warm with a silky texture and a pleasant rustic vibe. It shows a perfect balance between the sweetness of the fruit and the earthy feeling.

THE PROJECT

Envinate is the venture of four friends who, after studying enology together, embarked on a project that was unique to them. Currently, it has established itself as a solid and dynamic project with great recognition and prestige for its "terroir" wines, both nationally and internationally, which are highly sought after for their excellent value for money.

Following their passion and ideals and with a lot of work and their own expertise, they have proudly created a range of honest, authentic wines from distinctive areas, mainly in the area of Ribera Sacra and also the Canary Islands, always working with the local varieties to create wines that speak of the terroir where they come from.

They work in a natural style, using no chemicals in any of their vineyards; all grapes are hand-harvested' and using wild yeasts. Sulfur is added in those cases where it is needed, such as during bottling and aging in old barrels and concrete vats.
