Production:

El Templari is an ecological red wine from a single vineyard, "L'Obaga de Tomaset" located at the feet of the mountain range "La Serra de Pàndols", planted with Morenillo, an almost extinct variety in the Terra Alta that has lately been recovered with native plants and growing on soil formed of lime rock.

The vineyards are cultivated using only natural materials and organic fertilisers. The wine has been fermented and macerated for 21 days in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeast and aged for 9 months in clay amphoras.

A total of 4978 bottles were produced.

Tasting Notes:

Nicely black ripe fruit, toasty and mineral nose with good grip and sweet spices. Savoury, quite intense, good balance between fruit and wood, mature tannins, fresh acidity, and a long finish.

THE WINERY

Celler Bàrbara Forés is a family-owned winery that dates back to the 19th century. It is named for its original founder and winemaking, a pioneer of the 19th century, Bàrbara Forés (1825-1905), who, together with her son Rafael Ferrer, built the bodega and equipped it for bottling wine, which was something rare in that century.

Actually, the winery is in the hands of their descendant Carmen Ferrer and her husband Manuel Sanmartin. They who took control of it in 1994, restored it and made it work again. Later in 2019, their daughter Pili Sanmartín joined the family business, bringing with her a fresh approach that encorauges the dialogue of wine with the arts, which will be reflected in the new line of wines she produces.
