Bodega Pago de Carraovejas is one of the leading wineries in the Ribera del Duero, consolidating its prestige with its most exceptional wines. At the top, is the single-vineyard wine "Cuesta de las Liebres", a wine that is made exclusively in exceptional vintages.

The grapes come from a vineyard with limestone marl soils located at an altitude of 900 metres on a steep slope with a gradient of up to 35% and a rich biodiversity, where the vines coexist with various native species of flora and fauna, an exceptional spot where the Tempranillo finds the best conditions to develop its purest expression.

La Cuesta la Liebre shows the strength and elegance of the best Ribera del Duero wines, defining the character of the terroir of this steep hillside where it comes from and the extreme viticulture that takes place here. A red wine, solid, full-bodied, round and velvety, a long-lived wine that will continue to evolve over time.

Production:

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in small French oak vats using autochthonous yeast and bacteria. Then the wine is transferred to new extra fine-grain French oak barrels through gravity flow where it has aged for 24 months.

It was bottled in the spring of 2022.

Tasting Notes:

Complex nose with aromas of ripe black fruit, sweet spices, aromatic wood, and toasted notes. Dense, tasty and lively with sensations of ripe fruit (plum type) and balsamic. Great structure and very long.

Notes:  It is recommended to decant one hour before serving. Enjoy it over the next 8-10 years. A wine with a long life span. It will gain more complexity with time in bottle.

Pago de Carraovejas was founded in 1988 and since then has quickly established a reputation for elegant, high-quality wines. Its vineyards are situated at an average altitude of 850 metres above sea level on a steep hill overlooking the Duero River. The wines are produced with the most advanced techniques, totally respecting the values of nature and the expression of the terroir throughout the winemaking process, from grape harvest through bottling. As a result, their wines have a singular sensibility and an unmistakable character.
