La Encina del Inglés is a young red wine briefly aged in oak, made from a blend of Tintilla de Rota, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Garnacha, a wine that represents perfectly the essence of its origin, Ronda. An elegant wine, made from grapes growing at an altitude of 600-900 meters, and surrounded by century-old holm oaks.

Production:

Hand harvested. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aged for 5 months in medium toasted Allier French oak foudres.

Tasting Notes:

Fresh and fruity, succulent plum fruit and forest fruits, liquorice and a hint of pepper. On the palate shows fleshiness, balsamic notes, jammy fruit and spices, nice balanced acidity and ripe tannins.

THE WINERY

La Melonera is the project of a group of investors who embarked on an adventure to find the best location for producing unique wines in the Serranía de Ronda mountain range, in the heart of the province of Malaga. In 2003, the team at La Melonera set out to recover the ancient wine-making tradition by reviving the native grape varieties that once grew there, in the region of Ronda, which existed until it was extinguished by the phylloxera plague at the end of the 19th century.

The project is located on a 200 hectare estate at an altitude of between 650 and 900 meters, the perfect enclave for vine growing where the vines are perfectly integrated into a unique ecosystem to produce wines with personality and character.

The wines are produced under the young appellation Sierras de Málaga, which includes the "still wines" produced in the DO Málaga and some other areas such as the Serranía de Ronda.
