Ultreia Saint Jacques is the introduction wine to Raul Perez’s range of Ultreia wines.
It is a Mencia-based wine, a cuvée from old vines sourced from different plots in Valtuille and Villadecanes within the DO Bierzo.
Fermented with partly whole clusters in stainless steel and oak and matured for 12 months in used barriques.
Tasting notes:
A serious yet juicy fresh wine, clean, lovely, and rounded. Scents of juicy red fruit, subtly spicy with hints of violets, strawberries and redcurrants. Finishing fresh and vibrant.
Notes: The wine has good ageing potential.
Raúl Pérez is regarded as among the most talented and innovative winemakers, almost a legend within the Spanish winemaking world and abroad. The collaboration with other wine makers and wineries has also proved a great success. He works with the autochthonous varietals of the area.
