Cellers de Scala Dei is the oldest winery in Priorat, where the Carthusian monks began making wines in the 12th century. It is a benchmark for quality wines in the DOQ Priorat.

Cellers de Scala Dei has passed on the winemaking tradition started by the monks of the Cartoixa del Prior de Scala Dei in the 12th century. They were the first to plant vines in the region and the pioneers in bottling the first wines in the DOQ Priorat. For this reason, the winery is an emblem of the Priorat.
The current owners took over in 1973, and Codorniu acquired a 25% stake by the end of 2000.
